ABOUT THE WORK --->
The series is composed by 6 books-objects perforated and sealed with mooring, painting and gluing. The volumes contain the lives and oeuvres of women.
They include Brazilian-Ukrainian writer Clarice Lispector, Portuguese poet Florbela Espanca, Mexican and British artists Frida Khalo and Tracey Emin, Russian psychoanalyst Lou Salomé and Angelique, this one, a fictional character.
The artwork removes and dissects the books from their original function, transforming them merely into body, weight and volume.
Although these books once contained creative thoughts and the lives of their authors, now they are devoid of their original content, which is embedded in the object but not accessible.
The impediment is a deliberately violent act, intended to recall the repressed and enclosed creative thinking, evoking the silencing of women throughout time and history.
The sealed book becomes a symbol of silence of each particular universe.
