BEACH
Film Photography
Salvador da Bahia
2000 - 2006

This photo-series is an exploration on the seemingly peaceful pleasures of beach life and the undercurrents of alienation that arise from the invisible crises and dramas that haunt the world.

The work reflects on Nevil Shute’s On the Beach, a novel adapted into film in 1959. Set in a world ravaged
by nuclear war, the last remaining habitable spaces — South America among them — are swiftly being contaminated, and its people are left with nowhere to flee.

Among the desolation of the moment, the fragile beauty of fleeting peace amidst inevitable decay.
