The task of rummaging through uprooted, exiled, stateless memory, balanced on the thread stretched between departure and the past, the present and the beginnings, giving form to the obstacle/impotence — this is the meaning of the mountain. Its figure was not entirely new. From time to time, the furtive appearance of a mountain, or something I call a mountain, emerges in my artistic practice. Its contours are always the same: slope, peak, volume, shadow, austerity, astonishment, impotence.
This time, the apparition encompassed the entire meaning of absence, engulfing nostalgia and the insoluble and unnameable, accommodating them within a kind of vault, rock, block, Kaaba, sphinx. The impotence faced by migrant women artists in their struggle to exist — both poetically and literally — abroad. Evoking a landscape transformed into an object and transmuted into a political sensibility, the metaphor of the mountain became the driving force behind the creation of this work, inspiring a variety of forms and processes.
The sculptural object was built and destroyed, and here we pay homage to it, acknowledging its omnipresence throughout this project. Little by little, it was overlaid by / traversed by my own body, which took on an increasingly central place in the works produced under the theme of this project, as a political argument proclaimed in the first person.

O objeto escultórico foi construído e destruído e aqui lhes rendemos homenagem, reverenciando sua onipresença neste projeto. Pouco a pouco, sobreposta / atravessada pela meu próprio corpo, que tomou um lugar cada ver mais central nas obras realizadas sob o tema deste trabalho, como um argumento político proclamado na primeira pessoa.

A tarefa de vasculhar a memória desenraizada, exilada e apátrida, equilibrada no fio estendido entre a partida e o passado, o presente e os primórdios, atribuindo uma forma ao obstáculo/impotência, esse é o sentido da montanha. Sua figura não era de todo uma novidade. Vez ou outra, a aparição furtiva de uma montanha, ou algo que que chamo de montanha, surge no meu trabalho autoral. Seus contornos são sempre os mesmos, encosta, pico, volume, sombra, austeridade, espanto, impotência.
Dessa vez, a aparição arrebatou todo o sentido da falta, encerrando a nostalgia e o insolúvel inominável, acomodando-os numa espécie de cofre, rocha, bloco, Caaba, esfinge. A impotência enfrentada pelas mulheres artistas migrantes na sua disputa por existir - poética e literalmente - no estrangeiro. Suscitando uma paisagem tornada objeto, e transmutada em sensível político, a metáfora da montanha foi o vetor para a realização deste trabalho, inspirando diversas feituras.
